«…and on the seventh day, He rested.» (Genesis).

Sunlight danced across the water like flickering fireflies, indifferent to the churning sea, crashing against igneous rock ... a battle that has raged since the dawn of creation. A formidable opponent, Cadillac Mountain, once a proverbial stew, a molten mass, was thrust into existence to become a bulwark against its Atlantic foe. But… this old guard, the tallest peak on the east coast at an elevation of more than four hundred and fifty meters, relinquishes its shield of darkness every morning at the first sight of dawn in the continental United States.
